Bangladesh is a less economically developed country (LEDC) whereas Netherlands is a more economically developed country (MEDC). Although both has it's advantages and disadvantages, more economically developed countries (MEDC) generally hold the advantage when it comes to flooding impacts and prevention.
More economically developed country (medc)Property can afford to be insured and of good quality to sustain to some limit against flood damage. Therefore, flood damage towards property is minimal.
less economically developed country (ledc)Property cannot be afforded to be insured and are of poor quality and unsustainable against flood damage. Losses due to flooding are far from minimal.
Country is well developed with proper sewage and drainage systems to allow surface runoff to escape in the shortest amount of time possible. This reduces peak flow and flood damages.
Country is undeveloped or not fully developed without appropriate sewage and drainage systems to treat floods. Peak flow and flood damages are often maximal.
Country is well developed and urbanized. Road density is very high, and the area is very concrete. This indicates there is a lot of impermeable surfaces which decrease infiltration and increase surface runoff. This encourages flooding because it eliminates one of the way in which water can escape.
Country is undeveloped or not fully developed, therefore there is very limited urbanization. Road density is very low, and there are very few areas with impermeable surfaces. Infiltration is not blocked, therefore water can escape quickly to prevent flooding.
Country is updated with technology and has good infrastructure and communication networks. Aid can be contacted quickly to get to affected areas, increasing survival, rescues and evacuation rates, resulting in minimal flood fatalities and injuries. Proper educated medics and experts are on hand to help and minimize loss.
Country is not updated with technology and does not have good infrastructure and communication networks. Aid cannot be contacted quickly, resulting in an increase in fatalities and injuries. Country cannot afford proper experts and medics to aid in rescue and evacuation. Rescue teams are difficult to mobilize due to lack of funding for proper training. Flood damages are not minimal.
Investments can be made against flood prevention systems to eliminate some risks of flooding. There is heightened protection against floods, therefore it is less likely for a flood to occur. Investments can also be made against flood predictions to evacuate others to prevent fatalities and injuries.
Majority of investments are used for exports to tackle the issue of poverty and produce a stable economy for the country. Therefore, flood protection funds are limited. Country is not well protected against a flood, increasing the risk of a flooding disaster in the future.

Conclusion of medc vs ledc
Generally, more economically developed countries (MEDC) have the advantage during flooding because of the benefit of a stable economy. With the added money, it can afford to invest in many flood precautions whereas less economically developed countries (LEDC) cannot. To tackle poverty, less economically developed countries will invest most of it's money into producing a stable economy, therefore the funding provided against flood precautions is significantly lower. Despite this, less economically developed countries have a slight advantage because they have less developed areas, which indicates they have less impermeable surfaces. Because more developed countries are very urbanized, they have more roads and paved areas. With an increase in impermeable surfaces, infiltration rates will go down, increasing the risk of flooding. In conclusion, more economically developed countries have a less likely chance of flooding than less economically developed countries due to their economic advantage, but the undeveloped areas of less economically developed countries act as a slight benefit.
